Coral Nails... Literally!

Hi everyone! I have some nail art to share with you today, but first a quick update. I found out yesterday, thanks to Megan and some nice individuals who commented on the blog and e-mailed us, that someone used a photo of my neon leopard nails to enter a contest on Facebook in which they ended up winning a prize. Somehow, other individuals in the contest realized/knew that the photo was mine and reported it to me. I would like to take this chance to thank everyone that spoke out on my behalf and took the time to let me know. It makes me really sad that someone would stoop low enough to steal my photo, crop out the web address, and then use it for their own personal gain! Luckily, the company running the contest is looking into the issue and picked an alternate winner. As a reminder, Megan and I openly welcome people to share, re-blog, and pin our photos. We simply ask that they remain unedited and that you link back to the blog whenever possible. We love our followers and are so glad to see that you guys enjoy our posts! Thank you again to everyone who helped us take care of this issue. Now, on to the nails...

I am starting a new job on Monday, so I have had the past couple of weeks to unwind. I have found myself dreaming of the beach, which inspired me to create this nail design. One of my favorite color combinations is teal and coral, so that's what I used here. This first photo was taken inside:

I started with a base of two coats of Color Club Blue-ming, which I received in my July Birchbox. It's not particularly original, but it's a pretty shade of light blue-toned turquoise. I let the base dry for a bit, then used Essie California Coral and my smallest dotting tool to add the coral pattern. Coral is a very easy design to freehand because it's organic and every piece is different. After letting that layer dry for a bit, I went over it with the same dotting tool and Zoya Rica. I then used a small dotting tool and Sally Hansen White On to add white dots around the base of the coral. I topped the whole thing off with a coat of Seche Vite. I actually really love how this turned out! They are not super smooth because of the layers of coral, but they are smooth enough for me. I love the shimmery effect that Rica adds! Here they are in direct sunlight:

I didn't take a photo of my right hand, but I actually was able to create this design on both hands with relative ease. What do you guys think of this summery look? Until next time beauties...

xoxo,
Christy
