Christy's Cotton Candy Mani

Hi again! I did my nails on Friday night, and I just loved how they turned out so I wanted to share. As you can probably tell from the previous post, I love Deborah Lippman's polishes! I had bought Glitter in the Air a while back, but hadn't tried it yet. It reminds me so much of cotton candy in the bottle, so I really wanted to create that effect with my nail polish. Here's what I came up with:

It kinda looks like cotton candy, right? I started with two coats of China Glaze Kinetic Candy from the new Electropop Collection for the base. I then sponged two layers of OPI Italian Love Affair about halfway up the nail. The pink was still pretty sheer, so I ended up painting a third layer of Italian Love Affair on just the tips to give it a more graduated effect. I topped it off with two coats of Glitter in the Air and a coat of Seche Vite.

I really like how this turned out even though my cuticles are a nightmare. I mean seriously, how much cuticle oil/ hand lotion/ shea butter does a gal have to use? I think the pink on this mani is very soft and it needed to be just a bit more pink. I picked up Orly Cotton Candy from Ulta yesterday, which I think might have worked better for this. Or maybe I could have sponged both pinks... Glitter in the Air has a very sheer light blue base but it did impart a bit of a blue-ish tint to the pink. The glitter in it is very sparse, but I did manage to get a decent amount with two coats. It's has much less glitter than some of her other polishes but I do like the effect of the pink and blue hexes with the small pink, blue and silver glitter. It even has sparse tiny blue micro glitter which I honestly didn't notice until I was sitting here at the computer. Anyway, I have seen this polish get some negative reviews but I happen to really like it! Hope you guys enjoyed the cotton candy! :) Until next time beauties...

xoxo,
Christy
